With its generally pleasant disposition, impressive beauty, diversity of wildlife, and relatively small square mileage (even less so of ‘roadway’) this jewel set in the silver sea holds much that you, your navigator, a canteen, and a topless jeep may have hours and hours to explore and enjoy. Costa Rica car rentals are a pretty easy get; there are a lot of different car rental companies because there are so many tourists! At over one million visitors each year, Costa Rica is an excellent place to visit and enjoy. A picture of peace and stability for the region, Costa Rica has a constitutionally abolished army, so there will be no outside wars while you’re visiting Costa Rica, though there is a strong allied police force to assist in maintaining domestic tranquility. Looking for discounts while in a foreign place is often difficult. People more often than not, particularly in heavily touristy areas, want to reap the maximum amount of tourist dollars from you. Even if you’re there on business, you’re verifiably a ‘non-resident;’ this is a status which can lead to your being taken advantage of. Even if everything is ‘on the expense account’ you don’t want to cost anyone, yourself or your business, too much money, so looking for a cheap rental car while in Costa Rica is a great idea, though it comes with some challenges which we’ll address. If you want to rent a car in Costa Rica, there are several options for you. While some may suggest local agencies or other third party sites, if you rent from one of the major car rental companies, you have the benefit of being able to call back on them and allowing that they not just disappear into the night. Of these bigger outlets, there are car rentals available from Budget Rental Cars, Dollar Rent a Car, Alamo Car Rental, and National Rent a Car all within the countries borders. As I said, the benefit to these bigger, multi-national corporations is the customers ability to still have someone to get a hold of once they’re back home were there any discrepancies in billing or claims. If you don’t want to rent a car until you get to Costa Rica, I suggest you do so at your own peril. Once you’re on site and you’re cornered, they’ve got you right where they want you. All they need to do is hold out for the price they want; unless renting a car is not totally in the plan. If you have no real need to rent a car, then I suggest you just do this. Otherwise, grab the map, your navigator, and the keys and let’s roll! Costa Rica is a picture unto and of itself; what a picture indeed.
